Erasmus+ youth exchange is a great opportunity for everybody aged 13-30, who want to experience new things, meet new people, explore more. There are people who can’t afford to travel and one of them is me, so these projects are very important for those people who want to see the world, learn about cultures, etc. So I am going to tell you a little bit more why you should participate in a youth exchange project.
First of all, you will improve your foreign language skills. There are many games, tasks, presentations and you have to cooperate with people from different countries, so mostly you use English. By using English every day you will learn new words, you will become more confident and day by day you will just feel you are getting better, also not so scared to talk. English is the key getting to know each other, so of course by communicating you will meet new people. You will find friends, like-minded participants, organisators. At the end everyone exchanges contacts, so in the future you might need help from them or you want to do project together, maybe travel.
Secondly, as I mentioned earlier you will get the opportunity to see the country you are staying in. In these projects not only you have a chance to learn something on non-formal education, but also some trips might be organized. You will get the chance to see popular places, towns, shops. Another thing is that you will learn more about their culture during trips. Also we all in the project will meet people from different countries, so we will know more about their cultures. Every country has their night where they present their country and culture, so that’s how you will learn.
Finally, every project has the theme, so there is no denying you will learn new things whatever the topic is. For example, my theme was „Set your business now!“, so I have learnt more about business, how to create your own business, what I need to do, etc. Maybe in the future you will use this information when you want to achieve something. Not only you will learn about the theme more, but also general things like: how to start conversation, how to respect other cultures, respect people and their opinion, how to cooperate and a lot more. At the last day we all going to get YouthPasses. This paper is helpful if you want to find a job. Employer will give you a credit and it might help you to get the job you want.
In conclusion, you should not hesitate and go to these projects as much as possible. You will meet new people, see the country, improve your foreign language skills, learn intresting things and after all you will expand your horizons. I think all the participants can say that you will have the time of your life and you definitely remember this for the rest of your life!!
