All EU Member States still have a significant proportion of economically and socially excluded young adults who are not in employment, education or training (NEET). According to Eurostat data, in 2021 such NEET representatives aged 25-29 in the European Union averaged 17.3 %, while in Lithuania it was 15.2 %, in Ireland 14.3 %, in Croatia 19.3 %, in Poland 16.9 %, 20.2 % in Spain, and 17.9 % and 23.9 % respectively in the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.
The education received by the majority of them did not provide the necessary skills for finding a job, they do not have enough qualifications for further education, and this is also influenced by unfavourable living conditions. Despite education gaps, most of today’s young people are tech savvy, so digital experiences can be a bridge to their re-engagement if given the proper education.
Creating a film develops the skills of generating ideas, working in a team, planning time, creativity, assuming responsibility, communication skills, and better mastering information and communication technologies.
As many as 350 young people had the opportunity to participate in the training of the international Erasmus+ project “Supporting Digital Native NEETs Back to Mainstream Education, Training and Employment” (NEET-IDEA) in Lithuania, Ireland, Croatia, Poland, Spain, the Czech Republic, and Bulgaria. Thanks to information technology, people who were not studying or working anywhere created short films with the theme “My dream job”.
