For six months, I spent time in Italy not just as a tourist, but as a volunteer in the European Solidarity Corps program. It was a journey where I discovered invaluable experiences, inspiring creativity, and new ideas. The goal of my volunteer work was not only to experience the local culture but also to participate in projects that contribute to making the world a better place.
Volunteering had no room for routine – every day, we created a special atmosphere. With smiles, we prepared food together with people experiencing psychological problems, encouraged youth to participate in various activities, organized inspiring events, and assisted the homeless by distributing food and essential items. Volunteering with the organization “Eufemia,” we promoted sustainability ideas, proving that we can change food consumption habits and reduce waste.
One meaningful idea was collecting food at markets that had lost their charm and could no longer reach their customers. Next to fresh vegetables, this food no longer looked aesthetically pleasing, but through our efforts, it regained meaning and brought the taste to those to whom it was an invaluable gift.
We implemented various projects that brought together young people from different cultures and encouraged positive changes. This not only fostered creativity but also helped build a stronger sense of solidarity among young people from different countries.
Italy became more than just a country where I discovered cultural traits and flavors; it became a place where I learned to create and spread the beauty of the world. This journey will not only be remembered throughout my life, but its experiences will continue to inspire my future plans.
I want to express my gratitude to the Innovation Office for the unique opportunity. They were my sending organization, and their support made this experience extraordinary. Thank you for your trust.
