I will explain about my experience in Vilnius for 5 weeks. I can say “it has been brief but intense”.
When I arrived, I could see a capital, different one than others that I´ve seen: the buildings and constructions of the Soviet period, trolleybuses, weather often with clouds and rain, the food, the people etc.
During my travel, I lived in a routine. I need to work and after I usually visit different places of the city with my friends. But when we already had seen many touristic or not touristic places, I didn´t know what to do. I found myself in a situation of oppression, and I had been only 1 week! and I thought to came back home because nothing was how I had imagined.
And I said to myself: “I´m here for 5 weeks and I have to enjoy whatever I can”.
My big problem in this situation was that I had an idea about the place, the experience and what I would do. For beginners like me, I recommend that you do not generate expectations about the place where you will go because if it is not as you have imagined, you can have a bad time and the trip will be horrible. The best option is to not think anything.
Well, when you do not have what you expect, you have two options: you accept the situation and you let the days go by, or two, you try to see the good things about this and you enjoy what you can. I chose the second option and thanks to that I can live this trip in a very different way.
When I changed my point of view, I saw many new things, I can discover a country where there are very educated, kind and respectful people wherever you go, young country that despite having suffered a lot, the people had fought, were struggling and will struggle to live better than some time ago, because they love and feel their land, their country, their traditions, etc. Sincerely, I believe that this country has a great future at economic, educational and cultural level.
Why do I say this, because I lived for 5 weeks in this lifestyle, this routine day-to-day and thanks to that I started to see good things they had and I learned that the most important thing when you are not in your comfort zone is to understand and live their lives so that I can feel other sensations, this is part of the traveler’s magic, and a different way to travel and learn.
This is a brief summary of many things that I wanted to talk about, so you can get an idea of what you can feel and live travelling. You can know better yourself in an unknown environment, you can discover other realities and customs not only know them but also fall in love with them.
And with all this, I learned “take care about and live for the little details”.
