This year I had a wonderful opportunity to visit Poland, where I participated in a Polish-Lithuanian exchange project “EcoLogica” with other Lithuanians and Polish people. The main issues were discussed: the global ecological problems of today and especially the ecological problems of Lithuania and Poland.
During a walk through Poronin I had time to take a closer look and investigate the houses and surroundings of the city. It gave me an ability to compare Lithuania to Poland and to see how ecologically friendly the people are in these countries.
From my perspective, Polish people are not a very ecologic-friendly nation because I haven’t seen any solar panels; many houses were built from wood and were very big. Also the amount of cars is very large. Moreover, people are used to littering all around and they don’t use trash bins very often.
On the other hand, when we visited the city Zakopane, the situation there was quite different. There was no trash on the ground; there were fewer cars, more people walked on foot and that made the atmosphere look more eco-friendly.
To sum up, Poland is not a very eco-friendly country, but it is just starting its way to become one. And I believe that one day Poland will be example for other countries.
