Last Friday we went to a forest/park/beach, that’s what I call it, to clean it the best we could.
It was a nice day because it was sunny but the wind ruined it a little bit. We walked there for only like half an hour. Once we got there, we got prepared for our work by putting on gloves so we didn’t get dirty.
When we started to look around, my eyes couldn’t believe how dirty it was there mostly on the water. Poor animals! We immediately got to work and started cleaning as much as we could. Most of it was plastic bags, plastic food wrappers, aluminum, drink stoppers, tissues…
I took a huge cloth bag from there and we still cleaned a bit more of the water and put the trash in the bag.
I still don’t understand why people just throw their stuff away in nature instead of the trash bin. It’s not that hard, people are too lazy. And also, people have to start to recycle more in their homes, because with that little gesture, you do a lot for our Earth. Later, we moved on to the park zone to keep cleaning but it was pretty good. In my opinion, Lithuania is one of the cleanest countries in the world, streets are pretty clean too.
Later we finished our work and we rested and had some fun cooking some marshmallows, it’s the first time I’ve tried it, and it was good but so so sweet, the guys feel the same.
While we were eating, we saw ducks and a swan, it was very beautiful and I fed them with some bread, then some birds joined too! The ducks got closer once I gave them the bread, I didn’t want to leave ever.
The cleaning initiative was organised by Knowledge Code (www.ziniukodas.lt) while implementing NordPlus project “Green Minded”.
