The youth group of 6 people from “Innovation Office” (Lithuania) participated in the project: “Equal rights, equal values, equal opportunities” from 18 to 23 of October 2018. Project was held in Diakovo, Croatia, by organization – “CET” platform (Croatia).
After the project, we asked Lithuanian group members to say their reflection about the project, Sandra and Kristupas were inspired to share.
Sandra:
A few weeks ago I went to the project about human rights. I don‘t know even how to describe all my feelings about this project. To start with that while we were in Budapest airport, waiting for the bus we met two Italians – Cristina and Mirko. From the beginning, we found out that we are going to the same project! As well, we had a strong connection and had to talk a lot! And last but not least, at the same evening it turned out that Cristina will be my roommate during the project. So this is how I met my roommate and future friend.
The Lucky One:
It’s so important to add that we had a Lucky One, the cat. Yes, I brought a cat to the hotel. The cat was following me from the city center to the hotel. And I just couldn’t let him go. We gave him food and water. And I am so proud about our group. We all gave him a lot of love and attention. As saying: “Everything happens by reason” after we talked a lot about animal rights in a group session.
Best experience from Sandra view:
My favorite evening during the project was “Pub quiz”. Possible reason is because we won the game! It was so crazy evening. Our team motto becomes: “pasta”! Because we had 4 Italians in our team and one of the questions was: “What’s the average of pasta every Italian eat in a year?”. I don’t know if it was the right answer which gave us a victory, but friendship and teamwork really do!
Author insights:
The main topics which been developed and analysed during the project were: human rights, human rights history, refugees situations in nowadays world, LGBT, gender equality, challenged people struggles etc. Important to mention that all those topics were discussed through 7 different project partner countries perspective: Croatia, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Italy, Check Republic, Greece, and Lithuania.
Kristupas’ opinion about a project:
It was a wonderful project. People were very friendly, tolerant, funny and interesting. I will never forget them. All participants were from different countries, it meant that our attitudes, hobbies, life lessons are different, but that’s why it was so interesting. A mix of different cultures that turned into a family, we learned a lot from each other – it was wonderful. Also, the training part of the project was very well prepared, our mentor was very professional and open-minded.
Author insights:
Mentor of the project Tomislav Bogdan used non-formal education as a tool to train the youth, for instance – energizers, group workshops, individual tasks, discussions, debates and presentations, daily reflection on individual and group level.
Kristupas’ conclusion:
I learnt a lot about human rights in the training, but the most I learnt from people in the project. After all, I think life is about us – people and what we create. So let’s try to create something a little bit better.
Author insight:
At the end of the project we held a workshop for creating project dissemination plan, meanwhile, groups created: article, flyer, banner and movie about the project
After we had a session “Street action”, we went to the Diakovo city and talked with people about human rights. As a result, every organization created project dissemination plan to promote the project in everyday life environment.
To sum up, it is important to get a knowledge about human rights. It helps for an individual to be aware of the world we are living in and cause a question: how much I’m responsible for creating a better society and what is my role as a human being?
